Kolkata, Sep 29 (NationPress) A clip has gained immense traction in West Bengal, showcasing two police officers verbally assaulting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters at a party stall designed for disseminating party materials and distributing clothing as Durga Puja gifts to local women.
The occurrence unfolded in Rabindranagar, situated within the minority-majority Metiabruz Assembly Constituency in the South 24 Parganas district. The police officials involved have been identified as Inspector-in-Charge of Rabindranagar Police Station, Sujan Kumar Roy, and Sub-Inspector S.K. Kabir.
The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and prominent BJP figure, Suvendu Adhikari, circulated the video via his official X account, stating that this behavior exemplifies the burgeoning culture of West Bengal, particularly within the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency, which encompasses both Rabindranagar Police Station and Metiabruz Assembly Constituency.
Interestingly, the Lok Sabha representative for Diamond Harbour is Abhishek Banerjee, General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress.
In his post on X, LoP Adhikari asserted that while BJP members were conducting a modest book stall during Durga Puja and distributing new garments to women as gifts, Officers Roy and Kabir intervened, causing chaos to intentionally disrupt their efforts.
LoP Adhikari accused Roy of using abusive language towards the BJP workers at the stall, stating: "You have to play Hindu-Muslim here. We'll shove it up all of your rears!"
He further condemned the incident, asserting: "We firmly denounce this episode. Regardless of how much Mamata Banerjee attempts to hinder the BJP's community service through the police, she will not succeed. We halted you in Nandigram; this time we will prevail in West Bengal."
