Will Police Seize the Property of Sambhal Violence Mastermind?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Sambhal, Jan 21 (NationPress) On Wednesday, police executed comprehensive plans to confiscate the assets of Shariq Satha, the suspected mastermind behind the Sambhal violence, in accordance with a court ruling mandating the seizure of his residence in the Nakhasa police precinct of Uttar Pradesh.
To guarantee that the attachment process unfolds without disruptions, a significant police presence has been established.
This security operation includes Additional Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh, Circle Officer Kuldeep Kumar, officers from three police stations, and one unit of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).
Senior police officials have also been assigned to oversee the operation on-site.
A flag march is being conducted in the neighborhood to uphold public order and send a strong message to the community.
The administration is on high alert, and a drummer has been arranged to accompany the flag march, adhering to standard protocol for such operations.
In remarks to IANS regarding the actions taken, ASP Kuldeep Singh mentioned, "A Non-Bailable Warrant had previously been issued for the accused. After acquiring a certified copy of the warrant from the Secretariat, police conducted a raid at the suspect's home. Actions will proceed under the warrant. For this operation, resources from four police stations and a PRO team were mobilized."
Tehsildar Dhirendra Pratap Singh confirmed that the court's directives are being followed.
"The court orders are being executed in 84 BNS, and the identified property had already been noted. The court's order concerning this property is being enforced today," he stated to IANS.
Shariq Satha has been evading capture since the violence erupted in Sambhal on November 24, 2024.
Despite ongoing efforts from police and a Special Investigation Team (SIT), he remains untraceable.
In relation to the case, the SIT has apprehended three individuals connected to Satha's gang and incarcerated them for their suspected involvement in the violence.
Officials indicate that a warrant for property seizure was issued by the court months ago, but Satha did not surrender, fully aware of the order.
Taking his persistent disregard for the court seriously, the SIT subsequently filed three additional cases against him.
Investigators suspect that Satha fled to Dubai using a counterfeit passport as early as 2020.
Characterized by law enforcement as a highly skilled criminal, he is alleged to have stolen nearly 300 vehicles annually.
After his release from a Delhi jail, he has continuously evaded capture by law enforcement.
While several of his gang members are currently imprisoned, Satha's ongoing absence has led authorities to prepare for the issuance of a Red Corner Notice against him.
Police are investigating the network of individuals who may be aiding him financially or legally while he remains abroad, as efforts persist to bring him back to justice in India.
