Srinagar, July 12 (NationPress) - On Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police seized properties valued at Rs 3.2 crore belonging to terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
In a significant crackdown on anti-national activities, the Ganderbal Police have taken control of immovable assets worth 3.2 crore linked to three terrorists from PoK who are implicated in FIR No. 48/2009 under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, filed at Police Station Kheerbawani.
The individuals whose assets have been confiscated include Farooq Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Ahad Rather, residing in Kurag Ganderbal; Noor Mohammad Parray, son of Abdul Ahad Parray, from Hatbura Ganderbal; and Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, son of Gh Mohammad Sofi, hailing from Khurhama Ganderbal, according to a police statement.
In total, 9 Kanals and 1.5 Marlas of land have been attached following the necessary legal proceedings, in accordance with directives from the Hon’ble Court of the Additional Sessions Judge (Special Judge designated under NIA Act). This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the Ganderbal Police to mitigate activities detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Following the tragic incident on April 22, when Pakistan-backed terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba took the lives of 26 individuals in Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, the Army, security forces, and police have intensified operations against terrorists, their Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and supporters.
This vigorous campaign reflects the explicit directives issued to security forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, urging the dismantling of the entire ecosystem of terror within the Union Territory.
The Lt Governor's strategy regarding anti-terrorism operations extends beyond merely eliminating terrorists; it also aims at disrupting their support systems and the long-term sustainability of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
