Yamunanagar (Haryana), March 29 (NationPress) Pratham Barar, a B.Com student from Yamunanagar, Haryana, was filled with astonishment and joy after Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged him during a recent episode of 'Mann Ki Baat', commending his insights on fostering a Green and Clean Bharat.
In an interview with IANS, Pratham conveyed that he was still processing this notable recognition, describing it as a profound moment of pride and astonishment.
"I can hardly believe that the essay I penned, where I articulated my views on enhancing the environment to cater to our current needs while safeguarding the future, has gained recognition from the Prime Minister," he remarked.
"It’s incredible to realize that the leader of our nation mentioned me in 'Mann Ki Baat'. My teacher, Shashi Sir, brought this wonderful news to my attention. This is a significant milestone for both my family and myself," he added.
Pratham noted that this acknowledgment has fueled his passion for environmental advocacy and social awareness, inspiring him to pursue these causes with renewed vigor.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared that his dedication to environmental preservation took root during his school years. "In Class 11, I had the privilege of meeting Shashi Sir and participated in a month-long summer camp at Bhagat Singh Park. That experience had a profound impact on me and shaped my understanding of how we can protect and sustain our environment," he explained.
Despite facing personal adversities, including his father's passing, Pratham persevered with determination, managing to balance his academic responsibilities with community service.
Upon entering college, he joined the National Service Scheme (NSS), which further deepened his commitment to serving the community.
"The NSS motto is 'Not Me, But You.' This principle taught me the importance of thinking about others. It also emphasized the need to plant more trees and adopt a sustainable lifestyle," he stated.
Emphasizing the vital role of youth, Pratham mentioned that NSS volunteers at his college are actively promoting awareness about cleanliness and environmental conservation among the community.
The young scholar expressed that the Prime Minister's recognition has solidified his belief that even minor efforts can lead to substantial change.
“This acknowledgment has provided me with tremendous motivation. I am determined to continue my efforts for the environment and inspire others to join in,” he concluded.
