Srinagar, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Jammu & Kashmir Police took action on Monday by seizing the property of a notorious drug trafficker in the Kupwara district located in northern Kashmir.

This measure relates to Case FIR No. 61/2017 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act filed at the Police Station Sogam. The operation was conducted under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS).
The property attachment was carried out in the presence of Dy SP Lolab, Tehsildar Lalpora, and SHO Sogam. During the investigation, this residential property was identified as being unlawfully acquired through the proceeds of drug trafficking. This decisive action highlights the Kupwara Police's dedication to combating the drug crisis in the area.
The Kupwara Police urges the community to aid this initiative by sharing any information related to drug activities. Public cooperation is vital in the fight against this social menace,” stated the police.
Law enforcement agencies throughout J&K have been vigorously targeting drug smugglers and peddlers to curtail the illicit trade that impacts the youth of the Union Territory.
Intelligence reports indicate that drugs are primarily trafficked into the Union Territory from across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB). The financial gains from this trade are believed to support terrorism activities. Additionally, once young individuals become dependent on these substances, they are easily manipulated by terrorists and their handlers operating from outside the border.
The police have also been seizing properties linked to drug peddlers and smugglers, as these assets are generally obtained from the profits of illegal drug trade.
