Chandigarh, April 26 (NationPress) Punjab Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring emphasized the need for increased vigilance and security measures within the state following the harrowing terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Warring pointed out that Punjab is notably vulnerable and urged the government to implement extra safety protocols.

He warned that Pakistan, recognized as the primary adversary of the nation, could provoke and execute such attacks anywhere, particularly in Punjab. He expressed hope that the Punjab government, along with the Punjab Police, has heightened their intelligence efforts statewide, especially in the border regions.

“If terrorists can target a location deep within the Valley, far removed from the Line of Actual Control, they can certainly carry out similar acts in Punjab,” he cautioned, highlighting that Pakistan is already engaged in smuggling weapons and drugs into this region using drones.

The Congress state chief asserted that while the primary accountability falls on the Government of India, given that the Border Security Force is tasked with securing the borders, the Punjab government should also proactively employ its own resources and insights to address such threats.

Warring referred to a series of grenade attacks targeting police stations, primarily along the border belt, alongside assaults on temples and the residence of a BJP leader, in addition to the desecration of Baba Saheb Ambedkar's statues.

“Such actions are aimed at disrupting peace and harmony in Punjab, which must not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he stated.

He noted that the motive behind the Pahalgam attack was similar: to instigate division among people along religious lines. Therefore, he stressed the importance of taking preventive, preemptive, and precautionary actions proactively.
