New Delhi, Jan 27 (NationPress) Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has made a full recovery from his illness and is prepared to invigorate the Congress campaign in Delhi by speaking at two election rallies on Tuesday, as confirmed by a party official.

Gandhi, who had to cancel previous campaign events last week due to health issues, will hold rallies in the Patparganj and Okhla constituencies from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, according to former Union minister Pradeep Jain Aditya.

The prominent Congress campaigner had previously addressed a rally in Seelampur on January 14 but was soon sidelined due to health concerns, leading to the cancellation of several rallies.

On Monday, Gandhi was in Madhya Pradesh's Mhow, the birthplace of Ambedkar, where he inaugurated the party's nationwide initiative 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan'.

In an effort to connect with the Jain community in the election-bound city, the Delhi Congress has announced the formation of a Jain Welfare Board, modeled after a similar committee in Rajasthan.

The party also plans to conduct simultaneous candlelight marches across all 70 Assembly constituencies to protest against the desecration of Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s statue in Punjab, as stated by Jain.

During a press briefing, Jain criticized AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal for his silence regarding the vandalism of Ambedkar’s statue in Amritsar and emphasized their intention to reveal his double standards.

Jain further accused Kejriwal of neglecting the Jain community and failing to provide adequate representation in the Delhi Minorities’ Commission, which has been inactive since August 2023.

He highlighted that the Jain community was granted religious minority status on January 27, 2014, under the Congress-led government at the Centre and criticized the BJP for not recognizing the community.

“Members of the Jain community are facing harassment in Delhi to obtain a minority certificate,” he stated.

Asking for votes for the Congress in the upcoming February 5 elections, Jain affirmed that if Congress regains power in Delhi, a member of the Jain community will be appointed to the city's minorities’ panel.

In the last two Assembly elections for the 70-member House, the Congress has not been able to secure a single seat.

Voting in Delhi is scheduled for February 5, with results set to be announced on February 8.
