Indore, June 11 (NationPress) Despite initial findings from the Meghalaya and Indore Police indicating that Raj Kushwaha, who is alleged to have had a romantic involvement with Sonam Raghuvanshi, masterminded the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, his family remains steadfast in their belief that he is innocent.
Raj's relatives are actively portraying him as “innocent”, asserting that he is incapable of wrongdoing since he is the sole breadwinner for the family.
Furthermore, they refuted any claims of a romantic relationship between Raj and Sonam, with Raj's younger sister Suhani stating that he communicated with Sonam solely because he was employed at her family's business in Indore.
Suhani elaborated that Sonam's family had faith in Raj due to his integrity and dedication.
“Accusations have been leveled against my brother, but he is innocent. I just want him to be vindicated. He should not suffer for crimes he did not commit,” Suhani expressed during an interview with IANS on Wednesday.
She also mentioned that when Sonam called Raj's phone (when he was at home), he would refer to her as “Didi”.
“We only learned about the chats through the news yesterday. We had no prior knowledge -- he never acted inappropriately at home. My brother deserves to be freed because he is innocent,” Suhani stated.
Nevertheless, the Indore police maintain that Raj Kushwaha allegedly conspired with Sonam to murder Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, and that three other men were hired to carry out the deed. They were previously acquainted.
The police also asserted that Raj refrained from traveling to Meghalaya to avoid drawing attention and continued with his daily routine.
Despite only completing the 12th grade, Raj was employed as an accountant at the furniture sheet unit owned by Sonam's family, who reside in the Govind Nagar Kharcha area of Indore.
Meanwhile, a team comprising Meghalaya Police and Indore Police conducted a thorough search at the residence of one of the accused, Vishal Singh Chauhan, on Wednesday morning.
During the search, authorities recovered clothing that Chauhan allegedly wore during the murder.
“Following information provided by Chauhan, the pants and shirts he wore during Raghuvanshi's murder were confiscated from his residence,” disclosed Indore's Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Poonam Chand Yadav to reporters.
The Meghalaya Police plans to submit these garments to a forensic science lab to determine if they contain blood stains,” he added.
Indore's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajesh Dandotia, stated that a 12-member team from the Meghalaya Police departed for Shillong with the four accused -- Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Singh Kurmi -- after securing their transit custody from an Indore district court.
