Jaipur, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Congress president, Govind Singh Dotasra, has criticized the Union Budget as 'highly unsatisfactory', asserting that despite Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma making almost 60 trips to Delhi, the state has not received any financial support in this budget.

Addressing the press at his home in Sikar, Dotasra emphasized that the Chief Minister's numerous visits over the last two years yielded no special financial package or allocations for Rajasthan.

“Even a simple note, similar to those distributed during Assembly elections, would have been something. This time, there is nothing for Rajasthan at all,” he stated.

Dotasra highlighted that the budget fails to provide assistance to vulnerable groups, including the poor, Dalits, backward classes, and rural areas, claiming that vital sectors essential for Rajasthan's growth have been wholly overlooked.

Rajasthan possesses great potential in tourism, yet there is no dedicated tourism package. We requested a mission akin to the Jal Jeevan Mission, but received nothing. There are no allocations for ERCP, Managarh Dham, tourism, or water-related projects,” he remarked.

The state Congress leader also noted that despite the Prime Minister and Chief Minister's frequent mentions of initiatives like NCRP and other national projects, none were included in the budget. “While announcements were made in Rajasthan, they have not resulted in actual funding,” he continued.

Further criticizing the budget, Dotasra pointed out that government employees anticipated changes in income tax brackets, yet no alterations were made. He expressed worries about unemployment, water shortages, and increasing financial stress.

“The Centre spoke of creating jobs for two crore individuals each year, but no tangible job announcements were made,” he commented.

Commenting on the stock market's reaction, Dotasra argued that the budget did not align with public expectations. “When the market declines post-budget, it signifies public discontent. Farmers were promised doubled incomes, but their burdens have only increased,” he stated.

Taking aim at BJP leaders who praised the budget, Dotasra mentioned they were merely catering to the high command to safeguard their positions.

“They will speak of India evolving into a developed nation by 2047, but who has the foresight to see that? Currently, individuals are unemployed, employees are stressed, and salaries barely last 15 days,” he stated.

Dotasra further accused the budget of favoring states preparing for elections, while Rajasthan is overlooked, as there are no elections in the next three years. “Rajasthan contributes to GST and has a legitimate claim to central funds, yet this budget offers nothing to the state,” he concluded.

Point of View

This critique highlights significant concerns regarding budget allocations and priorities, particularly as they relate to the welfare of states like Rajasthan. The scrutiny of financial support for essential sectors underscores a growing demand for equitable resource distribution and accountability from national leadership.
