Jaipur, Feb 1 (NationPress) Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra has vehemently condemned the Union Budget, asserting that it has let down the populace and overlooked all demographics within Rajasthan.
He voiced his dissatisfaction regarding the absolute absence of provisions for the state, emphasizing that there are no financial allocations for any developmental initiatives.
Despite the BJP leaders' persistent assertions, the budget did not recognize the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) as a national project, and Rajasthan did not receive any special financial package, even under the much-touted 'double-engine government.'
Dotasra further noted that the budget neglects pressing concerns such as inflation and unemployment. He stressed that the government's commitment to providing a legally guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers remains unfulfilled, with no additional budgetary provisions made to ensure the timely supply of DAP fertiliser.
Additionally, no substantial measures have been implemented to enhance rural employment, as MNREGA funding has remained stagnant for years. He also criticized the Modi administration's ongoing disregard for the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), labeling it a significant letdown for government staff.
Dotasra pointed out the insufficient budget allocations for healthcare and education, alongside the lack of any announcements regarding GST simplification.
Moreover, he accused the Union government of slashing railway expenditures, leading to a reduction in facilities available to the general populace.
He further criticized the extension of the Jal Jeevan Mission deadline to 2028, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's prior commitment to provide water to every household by 2024, claiming the government has intentionally hindered the scheme's advancement.
Dotasra also pointed out inconsistencies in the BJP's stance on medical education, stating that while the Centre announces an increase in medical seats, the Rajasthan government has been compelled to cancel and reassess medical college initiatives due to insufficient support.
He lamented the reduced budgetary allocations for the health and education sectors, with healthcare receiving less than 2 percent and education less than 3 percent of the total budget.
He concluded that the Union Budget has resulted in nothing but disillusionment, providing no concrete benefits for the populace or the state.
Dotasra accused the BJP-led administration of prioritizing political advantage, highlighting that while Bihar received special announcements, Rajasthan was entirely overlooked.
