Jaipur, April 2 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, has instructed the state's power distribution companies to ensure a consistent electricity supply for residents throughout the summer months.
He stressed the importance of ongoing supervision of power distribution and the timely execution of projects related to line enhancements, transformer installations, and grid substations (GSS).
Furthermore, Discoms are required to focus on diminishing power losses and strive towards meeting the established objectives, as per Sharma's comments during a review meeting with the Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigams (Discoms) at his residence on Wednesday.
CM Sharma highlighted the necessity of fortifying power infrastructure, particularly in rural regions that experienced outages last year.
He directed officials to implement feeder-level monitoring to reduce transmission and distribution (T&D) and aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses.
Defective meters should be repaired or replaced promptly, and the Energy Generation Corporation must finish maintenance tasks prior to peak demand periods, he stated.
The Chief Minister underscored the importance of the Prime Minister Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM Kusum) in making Rajasthan self-sufficient in the energy domain.
He urged officials to hasten the implementation of its A and C components.
He also emphasized the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) as a pivotal initiative for enhancing power distribution and ensuring reliable electricity supply to both domestic and commercial consumers while minimizing power tripping occurrences.
Strict action will be enforced against contractors who unjustifiably delay work under these schemes.
Sharma announced that under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, the state government will provide 150 units of free electricity each month to qualifying families via solar plant installations. In regions where low-income families lack space for solar panels, community solar plants will be established.
He instructed officials to ensure the swift execution of this initiative.
The Chief Minister directed Discoms to accelerate the issuance of pending domestic and non-domestic electricity connections, prioritizing agricultural connections.
He mandated that Discom officials deliver daily reports on the issuance of agricultural connections to his office. The meeting also encompassed a comprehensive review of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) connections, the construction of 33 and 11 KV GSS, and the replacement of faulty transformers.
