Raisen, April 11 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday, asserting that Madhya Pradesh has undergone remarkable and continuous growth during his extensive tenure as Chief Minister.

During his speech at the 'Unnat Krishi Mahotsav' in Raisen, Singh remarked, "The dedication with which Shivraj Singh Chouhan addresses questions in Parliament reflects his commitment. Although he is currently in Delhi, his heart is firmly rooted in Madhya Pradesh."

Singh emphasized that Chouhan, who has served multiple terms as Chief Minister for over a decade, has been instrumental in bolstering the state's agriculture sector and rural economy.

He also praised the current Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, for not only continuing previous initiatives but also for implementing new programs that foster development.

Rajnath Singh characterized Madhya Pradesh as a "sacred land" celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and hospitality, noting the significant transformation the state has experienced under the governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In discussing farmer-focused initiatives, Defence Minister Singh highlighted programs such as PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and crop insurance, which have provided essential financial assistance to farmers.

"Every year, Rs 6,000 is directly credited to farmers' accounts. This is not merely a gift; it is the rightful acknowledgment of their hard work," he stated, explaining that direct benefit transfers have removed intermediaries and increased transparency.

He pointed out advancements in rural infrastructure, asserting that improved roads, electricity, and irrigation have enhanced farming efficiency.

"Previously, roads were unpaved, making it impossible for trucks to access villages. Connectivity has greatly improved now," Rajnath Singh remarked.

The Defence Minister also noted that digital platforms are equipping farmers with better access to markets, while soil health cards and insurance schemes are mitigating risks and increasing productivity.

Highlighting agriculture's vital economic role, Rajnath Singh stated, "Farmers drive the economy of our nation. All sectors, whether agriculture, industry, or services, are interconnected with farming," encouraging youth to explore modern agricultural practices.

He introduced a new initiative under the Defence Ministry aimed at procuring fruits, vegetables, and grains from farmers near cantonment areas.

"The organic produce grown by our farmers will now directly reach the plates of our soldiers, ensuring freshness and boosting farmers' incomes," Rajnath Singh commented.

In a personal reflection, he added, "I am here today not just as Defence Minister but as a farmer. The farmer in me always remains alive."

The three-day Krishi Mahotsav, taking place from April 11 to 13, has emerged as a key platform uniting farmers, scientists, agri-startups, and policymakers.

Over 300 stalls have been established, showcasing innovations in agriculture, horticulture, irrigation, farm mechanization, animal husbandry, and rural development.

The exhibition venue is divided into several sections, featuring agricultural machinery and innovations, dairy and cooperative sectors, as well as areas dedicated to technical sessions and cultural programs.

On the eve of the event, Union Minister Chouhan inaugurated the agricultural exhibition and reviewed the stalls, emphasizing the Centre's commitment to advancing farming technologies and fostering knowledge-sharing.

The event aims to outline a roadmap for future-ready agriculture, bridging the gap between research and field implementation while encouraging farmers to adopt modern, sustainable, and technology-driven practices.
