Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, April 10 (NationPress) Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Friday that the upcoming three-day Unnat Krishi Mahotsav in Madhya Pradesh's Raisen, commencing April 11, will prioritize providing practical solutions and advanced technologies directly to farmers.
During a press briefing at his residence in Bhopal, Chouhan emphasized that this national-level Advanced Agriculture Festival seeks to close the gap between scientific research and practical farming methods.
“Our goal is to develop scientifically informed agricultural roadmaps tailored to each state,” he stated, noting that strategies must consider local climate, soil, and resources.
The festivity will take place at Dussehra Ground in Raisen, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurating the event, while Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will preside over the closing ceremony on April 13.
Chouhan highlighted the scale of the festival, mentioning that over 300 stalls will be established featuring participation from national institutions, agri-startups, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and private enterprises.
“This agricultural fair will go beyond mere speeches; it will showcase live demonstrations of modern farming machinery and cutting-edge technologies,” he remarked.
Farmers will have the opportunity to gain practical experience with tools like drones, seeders, sprayers, and rotavators, along with techniques such as micro-irrigation, precision farming, and fertigation. “These methods will be demonstrated in a hands-on manner, enabling farmers to adopt them easily,” he added.
The Union Minister mentioned that special sessions covering approximately 20 topics, including soil health, digital agriculture, and post-harvest management, will be conducted by experts. He also stressed that farmers will benefit directly from services like soil testing and information on government schemes.
Chouhan reiterated the overarching aim of the initiative to enhance farmers’ incomes. “We are committed to developing sustainable and climate-resilient farming models that lower input costs while boosting productivity,” he remarked, adding that allied sectors such as dairy, fisheries, and poultry will also receive promotion.
A significant aspect of this event will be the launch of a region-specific agricultural roadmap for the districts of Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, and Dewas. “This roadmap will detail appropriate crops and horticulture options based on local conditions,” Chouhan explained.
He concluded by asserting that the event is structured to ensure farmers can directly benefit from adopting modern practices to improve their livelihoods.
