Rajouri, Feb 4 (NationPress) The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) has provided significant relief to the citizens of the Union Territory (UT), especially those fighting severe ailments such as cancer.
A hospital located in Rajouri is extending complimentary medical services not only to local residents but also to individuals from neighboring districts like Reasi and Poonch.
Beneficiaries of the PM-JAY, equipped with the Ayushman Golden Card scheme, are availing themselves of the benefits of this initiative, receiving treatment at no cost. Many patients and their families have expressed profound appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring access to free healthcare in both public and private medical facilities.
Numerous patients currently admitted to GMC Rajouri recounted that prior to the implementation of this scheme, families with limited financial means had to liquidate their assets to afford costly medical treatments; however, that is no longer necessary. With 100 percent complimentary treatment offered under the scheme, the financial strain on disadvantaged families has been entirely alleviated.
"This scheme has instilled new hope in us. Previously, we struggled to gather funds for treatment, but now we can obtain medical care without the stress of expenses," remarked a relative of a cancer patient at GMC Rajouri.
Shabir Ahmed, whose mother is receiving care at the facility, expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating medical assistance for economically weaker sections through this scheme.
Abdul Hakim, a doctor and associate professor at GMC Rajouri Medical College, informed IANS that the hospital provides day care services along with OPD and chemotherapy sessions for cancer patients.
"Through the Golden Card of the PM-JAY scheme, patients receive expensive medications at no charge. The primary patients here come from Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi, who benefit from complimentary chemotherapy treatment," he explained.
He further noted that it is only after exhausting their medical insurance that some patients need to pay out of pocket.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme, launched by the Modi administration, continues to assist thousands across Rajouri and other districts of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that no individual is deprived of healthcare due to financial limitations.
