Indore, Jan 14 (NationPress) The chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, stated on Monday that the inauguration date of the Ram temple located in Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) ought to be recognized as 'pratishtha diwas'.

According to the RSS leader, the Ram Mandir was not merely an aandolan (movement) but rather a 'yagya' for the Hindu community. He expressed that the construction of the temple should have transpired much earlier, but it faced delays due to various factors.

Bhagwat emphasized that the Ram temple movement was initiated not to oppose anyone but to revitalize the 'self' of Bharat, enabling the nation to be self-sufficient and provide guidance to the world.

An idol of Lord Ram was consecrated at the magnificent Ayodhya temple on January 22, 2024, in a momentous occasion led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He noted that there was no unrest in the country during the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya last year. This statement was made following the presentation of the National Devi Ahilya Award to Champat Rai, general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, in Indore on Monday.

After receiving the award, Rai announced that he dedicates this recognition to all the known and unknown individuals who contributed to the Ram Mandir movement that led to the construction of the grand Ram temple in the Uttar Pradesh town.

Reflecting on the various phases of challenges encountered by the movement, Rai described the temple as a representation of 'Hindustan ki Moonchh' (the national pride) and stated that he was merely a facilitator in its creation.

This esteemed award is presented annually by the Indore-based social group, 'Shri Ahilyotsav Samiti', to notable individuals in acknowledgment of their contributions across various social sectors.

The former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who presides over this organization, mentioned during the event that a grand memorial dedicated to Devi Ahilyabai will be constructed in the city to familiarize people with her life's character. Over the years, the National Devi Ahilya Award has been awarded to distinguished personalities such as Nanaji Deshmukh, Vijaya Raje Scindia, Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, and Sudha Murty.
