Ballary, Jan 16 (NationPress) A suspect in a rape case, who attempted to flee from police custody while being led to the crime scene for documentation, was shot in the leg in Torangal town, located in Karnataka's Ballary district on Thursday.
As per police reports, the suspect engaged in a violent confrontation with officers while being escorted to the scene for a mahajar (a process of documenting crime scene investigation details).
The individual has been identified as 26-year-old Manjunath, hailing from Kamalapura in Vijayanagara district.
The alleged rape occurred on Monday, prompting police to establish three teams for rapid response. Manjunath was eventually apprehended in Hulagi, located in Koppal district.
