Receiving Quality Care at a Private Hospital Without Cost: A PM-JAY Success Story

Prayagraj, Dec 1 (NationPress) Shiv Lakhan Singh, a resident of the area, is presently receiving treatment at a private hospital in the city for his health condition. The positive aspect is that, in spite of his financial struggles, he is benefiting from comprehensive care and facilities at no cost.
The medical costs for Shiv Lakhan Singh's treatment are covered by the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PM-JAY), a flagship initiative of the Modi administration designed to deliver affordable and equitable healthcare to all citizens, regardless of their economic standing and overall well-being.
In an interview with IANS, beneficiary Shiv Lakhan Singh expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating a ‘program for the underprivileged’.
“Thanks to this program, I am receiving excellent treatment today and have access to support amounting to Rs 5 lakh, which I previously did not have. Before this, such facilities were unavailable; we faced numerous hardships and often had to borrow money for our healthcare expenses, but that is no longer the case,” he stated.
“The efforts of the Prime Minister are commendable, his initiatives are beneficial and functioning effectively. We need leaders like him in office,” he added emotionally.
He also commended the Modi government for launching various welfare programs such as Jan Aushadhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, among others.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), commonly referred to as Ayushman Bharat, was introduced by PM Modi in September 2018.
Ayushman Bharat is recognized as the largest health assurance scheme globally, aimed at providing health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary hospitalization to over 12 crore impoverished and vulnerable families, representing the bottom 40 percent of the nation's population.
