Jaipur, Feb 27 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET)-2024, organized by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, is taking place in Jaipur on Thursday and Friday. A total of over 270,000 candidates are set to appear for the examination at 233 centers.
The test is scheduled in two shifts on Thursday and one on Friday. On Thursday, 178,950 candidates will take the exam across both shifts, while 91,068 candidates are slated for Friday. To handle this large turnout, 233 examination centers have been established throughout Jaipur, with the highest number of candidates expected on Thursday. The rush began as early as Wednesday evening at railway stations and bus terminals.
Extensive measures have been implemented to guarantee the smooth running of the examination. The administration has appointed 24 Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers as area supervisors, 48 Rajasthan Tehsildar Service officers as zonal supervisors, and designated one area officer for every ten centers, alongside one zonal officer for every five centers. Additionally, 11,500 teachers will serve as invigilators. Authorities recommend that candidates arrive early and plan their travel to avoid any last-minute issues.
District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni has directed all personnel to strictly follow examination protocols, warning that any negligence or failure to fulfill duties will lead to disciplinary action. According to Gopal Singh Shekhawat, Nodal Officer of the District Examination Conducting Committee and Additional District Collector (East), more than 270,000 candidates are registered for the REET-2024 across 233 centers in Jaipur.
He confirmed that candidates are scheduled for three shifts. On Thursday, the Level I (Class 1 to 5) examination will take place in the first shift from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with 87,413 candidates registered. The second shift, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., will conduct the Level II (Class 6 to 8) exam for 91,537 candidates. On Friday, the Level II (Class 6 to 8) exam will again occur from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with 91,068 candidates registered.
A control room has been set up in Room No. 116 at the district collectorate to oversee examination activities, remaining operational until all examination materials are sent to the REET office in Ajmer after the test concludes on February 28.
Strict measures will be enforced to uphold the integrity and transparency of the examination process.
Under the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, severe penalties for malpractice will be imposed. Section 10 (1) of the Act stipulates a three-year prison term and a fine of Rs one lakh for offenders, with an additional nine-month imprisonment for non-payment. Section 10 (2) allows for imprisonment of up to 10 years, extendable to life imprisonment, along with fines ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 10 crore. Non-payment of fines can lead to an additional five-year imprisonment, and the property of those deemed guilty may also be confiscated.
