New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) As the much-awaited debate on 'Operation Sindoor' approaches in Parliament, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju drew inspiration from the Ramayana to illustrate the connection between India's military tactics against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism and the downfall of Lanka.
Highlighting the consequences of Pakistan-supported terrorist actions, Rijiju stated that the terror camps met a fate akin to Lanka when the red lines were breached.
In a post on X, Rijiju expressed, "Today marks the start of discussions on 'Operation Sindoor'. When Ravan crossed the Lakshman Rekha, Lanka faced destruction. Similarly, when Pakistan transgressed the red lines established by India, terrorist camps experienced the wrath!"
Parliament is preparing for what is anticipated to be a pivotal moment in the Monsoon Session, commencing a 16-hour-long dialogue about the government's reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack and the extensive implications of 'Operation Sindoor'.
This operation is regarded as a significant military and diplomatic strategy to counteract cross-border terrorism.
The initial week of the Monsoon Session had seen multiple disruptions, largely due to issues surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar along with other contentious topics raised by the Opposition.
However, after reaching a consensus, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju announced on July 25 that discussions on national security would initiate in the Lok Sabha on Monday, continuing in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will kick off the debate, outlining the government's stance on the goals and results of 'Operation Sindoor'.
He will be joined by Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who are expected to articulate the government's perspective on the Pahalgam terror strike and India's subsequent military responses.
Notable BJP MPs, including Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey, will also contribute to the session, further solidifying the government's position.
On the Opposition side, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to steer the counter-argument.
They will be supported by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and other Opposition leaders, who are expected to scrutinize the transparency, implementation, and impact of the operation.
Aware of the importance of this debate, the Congress party has issued a three-day whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs, ensuring their presence in the House.
