Patna, June 2 (NationPress) In the midst of the ongoing controversy regarding Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav, party MP from Buxar, Sudhakar Singh has publicly expressed his unwavering support for Yadav, challenging the validity of the accusations made against him and the harshness of his removal from both the party and family.
While addressing media representatives in Motihari, Singh stated, “In Hindu culture, having multiple marriages is not deemed inappropriate. There are many historical instances of individuals having two or even three spouses. The late Ram Vilas Paswan is one such example—his son Chirag Paswan was born from his second marriage. If Tej Pratap has remarried, as suggested on social media, I see no issue with it; it’s not a social wrongdoing in our traditions.”
Singh also criticized RJD chief Lalu Prasad for disowning his own son from both the party and family, following claims of an extramarital affair with a woman named Anushka Yadav.
“As a father, Lalu Prasad should embrace his son. I do not think Tej Pratap has committed any moral or social error,” Singh remarked.
The uproar began last week when a post appeared on Tej Pratap’s official Facebook account, featuring a photo and an assertion of marriage to Anushka Yadav. This post quickly gained traction, inciting a political upheaval and leading to disciplinary measures from the RJD.
Nevertheless, Tej Pratap later denied authoring the post, asserting that his social media account had been compromised. He also suggested that the incident was politically motivated and plotted by a “Jaychand”—a traitor—within his own party.
This is not the first instance where Tej Pratap, the eldest son of RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav, has found himself at the center of controversy. Renowned for his unpredictable remarks and actions, he has frequently been a source of unease for the party leadership.
