Patna, Dec 12 (NationPress) An alarming event has transpired in the Vidyapati police station area of Samastipur, where four individuals impersonating law enforcement officers forcibly took away goats that were acquired under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Women’s Employment Scheme.
The theft occurred on Friday in Dhaneshwarpur South Panchayat, Ward No. 9, while the victim, Champa Devi, and her family were asleep.
A vehicle suddenly stopped in front of their residence, and the men inside awakened the family.
Presenting themselves as police officers investigating a liquor mafia suspect, the intruders illegally entered the premises.
Inside, they seized four goats that Champa Devi had purchased using Rs 10,000 in financial aid from the Women’s Employment Scheme.
When she attempted to intervene, the assailants reportedly displayed a firearm, verbally abused her, and issued threats against her life.
“They claimed to be police and that a liquor mafia had passed through. They showed a gun and ordered us to step aside. Terrified, we complied. They loaded all four goats into their vehicle and departed,” recounted Champa Devi.
This same group is said to have targeted a nearby house, making off with three additional goats.
According to those affected, they too had acquired their goats through government support.
Before the villagers could comprehend the situation, the thieves escaped in their vehicle with all seven goats.
Community members are calling for stringent police action. However, the Vidyapati police have stated they are waiting for a formal complaint before initiating any action.
“We have received a report of theft, but no application has been submitted yet. Action will be initiated once we receive it. We are investigating the gang involved,” stated Suraj Kumar, a police officer at Vidyapati Police Station.
This locality has experienced multiple goat thefts in the past, with thieves typically arriving in four-wheelers, complicating capture efforts.
In a previous incident, villagers even held a DSP hostage, mistaking him for a goat thief.
Under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Women’s Employment Scheme, women receive Rs 10,000 each to initiate income-generating projects.
