In a significant development last month, India and the US revealed a framework for an Interim Agreement focused on reciprocal and mutually advantageous trade, which is seen as a step toward a comprehensive bilateral trade agreement, as the White House announced a reduction in tariffs on Indian imports.
A joint statement highlighted the commitment from both nations to continue negotiations on a US-India Bilateral Trade Agreement, initiated by President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2025. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic discussion with President Trump last month, emphasizing the importance of Trump's leadership for global peace and prosperity. Modi expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with Trump to elevate their partnership to new heights.
