Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 19 (NationPress) In the midst of various Iftar celebrations happening throughout Bihar, a significant event took place on Thursday at the home of Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) Leader Jitan Ram Manjhi in Patna.
This Iftar gathering saw the attendance of multiple NDA figures, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his son Nishant Kumar, and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
After the event, Manjhi made a noteworthy political statement, indicating that Samrat Choudhary might be a potential contender for the Chief Minister position.
"I believe that Samrat Choudhary is the individual that Nitish Kumar prefers for the Chief Minister role. There is a possibility that he will be entrusted with this responsibility," the Union Minister remarked.
Reflecting on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's leadership approach, Manjhi characterized him as transparent, albeit someone who does not always reveal his intentions directly.
"If he (Nitish Kumar) is signaling something, it should be interpreted that he is steadfast in his decisions," he added.
Regarding the increasing visibility of Nitish Kumar's son and JD-U leader Nishant Kumar, Manjhi expressed that, although he is new to politics, he possesses vital leadership qualities.
"He displays patience and respect. Today, I noticed him warmly welcoming everyone — this is a positive sign for someone stepping into public life," he noted.
On the custom of holding Iftar events, Manjhi highlighted that these gatherings have been organized at his residence for nearly a decade.
"Individuals from diverse political backgrounds unite to pray for peace, prosperity, and harmony in both the state and the nation," he stated.
He remarked that this year's Iftar was conducted to continue the tradition, particularly towards the conclusion of the Ramadan observance.
When asked about the lack of an Iftar event at the residence of former Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Manjhi referred to it as a personal choice.
"I cannot comment on why others chose not to host such events. It is a religious observance, and everyone has their unique way of observing it," he added.
This event occurs amidst a surge of political activity in Bihar, where recent Iftar gatherings have also been organized at Haj Bhawan and the Chief Minister's residence, often serving dual purposes of social outreach and political communication.
