New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan is at the helm of the Indian delegation for the 15th BRICS agriculture ministers' meeting, taking place on Thursday in Brasilia, Brazil.
The focal point of this meeting is 'Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Agriculture through Cooperation, Innovation, and Equitable Trade' among BRICS nations.
Agriculture Ministers and senior officials from BRICS countries, which include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran, are anticipated to take part in the gathering.
As per an official announcement released on Tuesday, during this trip, Minister Chouhan will also engage in bilateral discussions with Brazilian counterparts, including Carlos Henrique Baqueta Favaro, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, and Luiz Paulo Teixeira, Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming.
These discussions are aimed at bolstering collaboration between India and Brazil across various domains such as agriculture, agri-technology, rural development, and food security, the statement revealed.
Chouhan, who previously served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, will also meet with leaders from prominent Brazilian agribusiness firms and representatives of the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries in Sao Paulo, seeking opportunities for partnership and investment in the agricultural value chain.
As part of his agenda, the minister will take part in a tree planting initiative at the Embassy of India in Brasilia, under the program 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', designed to promote environmental awareness and honor motherhood, as stated.
