While two of the three suspects have been arrested, one remains at large.
The altercation took place at an auto repair shop owned by Veer Singh in the Trilokpuri region, which falls under the Kalyanpuri police station's jurisdiction. According to the authorities, three young men approached the shop seeking to charge their mobile device. When Singh declined their request, a verbal confrontation escalated into a physical attack.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) East Delhi, Abhishek Dhania, revealed that the assailants attacked Singh with a knife during the ensuing struggle, causing multiple stab wounds. Singh was rushed to a medical facility, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Ram Kishan, a labourer, was also assaulted when he attempted to intervene and halt the attack. He received medical treatment and has since been discharged.
The police have apprehended two suspects, identified as Yamin and Yaseen, while efforts continue to locate the third individual who fled the scene. A case of murder and attempted murder has been filed, and CCTV footage from the vicinity is being analyzed to track the fugitive.
Rakesh, the brother of the deceased, stated that the discord arose over a mobile charger. “The police have assured us, but we demand justice. A life has been lost. This occurred in broad daylight around 10:30 am in Delhi. Crimes are happening daily in Delhi; where is the police?” he remarked.
BJP MLA Ravi Kant expressed his sorrow over the situation and visited the victim’s family, calling for strict measures against the perpetrators. “Such acts of violence are extremely concerning, and those responsible must face severe punishment,” he said.
Authorities confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to explore all angles related to the incident.
This stabbing case is not an isolated event, as incidents of such nature have surged significantly in the Delhi-NCR region in recent weeks.
On January 30, Delhi Police detained five minors for allegedly stabbing a 27-year-old man near the Shastri Nagar Metro Station, following an incident on January 26.
According to the police, the conflict began when one of the accused objected to the victim posting a photograph of his cousin sister.
In another case on January 28, a 21-year-old was fatally stabbed over a trivial dispute regarding lighting a cigarette in the Vasant Kunj area of South-West Delhi.
Previously, on January 22, Delhi Police reported that suspects involved in the Mangolpuri stabbing incident on January 21, which led to a 25-year-old man's death, were identified and captured.
In that case, 25-year-old Akash was fatally stabbed on the night of January 21. CCTV footage assisted the police in identifying the suspects. “The police have identified the offenders, filed a case, and initiated further investigations,” stated DCP (Outer) Sachin Sharma.
