Singapore to Become the First International Partner at 'Utkarsh Odisha -- Make In Odisha Conclave 2025'

Bhubaneswar, Dec 10 (NationPress) Singapore will be the inaugural country partner at the 'Utkarsh Odisha -- Make In Odisha Conclave 2025', scheduled in Bhubaneswar from January 28 to 29.

According to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Simon Wong, the High Commissioner of Singapore to India, informed Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during their meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday.

During the discussions, Wong announced that Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will visit Odisha as part of his trip to India in January.

The year 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and India.

Furthermore, the CMO highlighted: "Both nations share profound historical, cultural, and economic connections. This bond has evolved into a strategic partnership that spans trade, defence, technology, and cultural exchange. Singapore is a major contributor of FDI to India, while Indian companies have a significant presence in Singapore across sectors like IT, banking, and manufacturing."

"With common values of democracy, innovation, and sustainable development, both nations are eager to enhance their relationship for mutual advancement and regional stability. To celebrate this partnership, the Singapore President will visit India next," the CMO stated.

Additionally, during his recent trip to Singapore last month, CM Majhi had invited the Singapore government to arrange a visit by their President to Odisha as well.

In response to CM Majhi's invitation, the Singapore President has confirmed his visit to Odisha during his trip to India.

Wong further emphasized that Singapore will be the first nation to partner with the 'Utkarsh Odisha -- Make In Odisha Conclave 2025', which will take place in Bhubaneswar in January.

He added that while the Singaporean President is in India in January, Odisha is the only state he selected to visit, recognizing the vast opportunities for enhancing business partnerships alongside existing cultural ties.

Wong pointed out that the visit will highlight the state's potential in sectors such as petrochemicals, green energy, and skills development.

Meanwhile, CM Majhi expressed his gratitude to the Singapore government for accepting his invitation.

"There is immense potential for collaboration between Singapore and Odisha. Our relationship is ready to advance to the next level across diverse sectors including petrochemicals, urban planning, tourism, renewable energy, and skill development," stated CM Majhi.

He also thanked the Singapore government for hosting him and Team Odisha, which resulted in a productive visit last month.

The discussions revolved around enhancing cooperation in areas such as the petrochemical complex, development of industrial parks, new energy, IT, skill development in IT, tourism, and cultural exchange.
