New Delhi, Nov 12 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reached a significant milestone in Phase II of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by distributing over 42 crore Enumeration Forms (EFs) to electors across 12 States and Union Territories as of November 12, according to the poll panel's announcement on Thursday.
The ECI’s latest daily bulletin reveals that a total of 50.95 crore EFs were printed, achieving an impressive 99.91 percent completion rate, with 82.71 percent (42.18 crore) already distributed.
This Enumeration Phase is currently taking place from November 4 to December 4.
States like Goa, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and West Bengal have reported near-total coverage, showcasing effective ground-level coordination.
Lakshadweep and Goa achieved 100 percent completion in both printing and distribution, while Puducherry stands at 93.41 percent, and Andaman and Nicobar at 89.81 percent. Gujarat distributed over 4.79 crore forms (94.27 percent), with Tamil Nadu distributing 5.21 crore forms (81.37 percent) and more.
In Uttar Pradesh, the largest state in India, 12.33 crore forms were distributed, covering nearly 80 percent of its electorate.
Similarly, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan reported coverage rates of 74.41 percent and 81.37 percent, respectively.
In the poll-bound West Bengal, over 7.14 crore forms were distributed, achieving a total coverage of 93.22 percent.
More than 5.33 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and 10.41 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have been mobilized to ensure that every eligible elector is reached.
The ECI has urged all recognized political parties to appoint additional BLAs to bolster field-level verification and improve the accuracy of electoral rolls.
Interestingly, the ECI’s Wednesday press note indicated that more than 37 crore Enumeration Forms (EFs) were distributed to electors across 12 States and Union Territories as of November 12.
A total of 50.69 crore EFs were printed, achieving a 99.41 percent completion rate, with 72.66 percent (37.05 crore) already distributed.
