Raichur, Jan 30 (NationPress) In a disturbing incident, a rejected lover violently took the life of a college student in broad daylight by slitting her throat after she turned down his marriage proposal in Raichur district, Karnataka.
The perpetrator has turned himself in to the authorities following the act.
The victim has been named Shifa (24), while the assailant is Mubin, an employee at a tile shop. This tragic event occurred under the jurisdiction of the Sindhanoor Town police station.
Authorities reported that Shifa, who was studying for her MSc at a private institution in Sindhanoor town, traveled daily from Lingasaguru. She had been acquainted with Mubin for six years, during which he developed romantic feelings for her.
In the meantime, Shifa’s family had begun discussions regarding her marriage to another individual. Upon hearing of this, Mubin pressured her to accept his proposal, which she declined. Furious, he followed her from Lingasaguru and attacked her near the Sindhanoor Government Graduation College. He stabbed her in the neck and then slit her throat before escaping the scene.
After the murder, he went to the shoe shop owned by the man with whom Shifa’s marriage was being arranged and caused a scene. He then made his way to the Lingasaguru police station, where he surrendered.
Considering the gravity of the situation, Superintendent of Police Puttamadaiah promptly visited the crime scene for an evaluation. He also ordered the police to enhance surveillance around educational institutions. A case has been initiated, and authorities are interrogating the accused.
