Will the Dispute Escalate Further? Maulana Razvi Responds to SC's Decision on Bhojshala
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bareilly, Jan 23 (NationPress) Following the Supreme Court's approval for both Basant Panchami worship and Friday namaz to take place at the contested Bhojshala Temple–Kamal Maula Mosque complex in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, All India Muslim Jamaat National President Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi expressed that this ruling is unlikely to settle the ongoing conflict and could potentially intensify the dispute.
In a conversation with IANS, Maulana Razvi emphasized that the contention surrounding the Kamal Maula Mosque in Dhar has persisted for several years and remains under judicial scrutiny.
"The Supreme Court has now mandated that puja can be conducted until sunrise, after which namaz will be held. Nonetheless, the Court has not yet provided a conclusive judgment regarding ownership rights. The current directive solely pertains to the execution of religious practices such as puja and namaz," he stated.
The cleric pointed out that the ownership issue is still unresolved, and a definitive ruling is anticipated in the future.
"In my perspective, this ruling will not resolve the conflict but may exacerbate it. However, I hope such a situation does not materialize. When various religious communities clash, it fosters tension, increasing the likelihood of disputes intensifying," Razvi remarked to IANS.
He urged for calm and composure, stressing that all parties should work towards maintaining peace and harmony, ensuring that no adverse incidents occur moving forward.
A panel led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, reviewing an urgent petition from the Hindu Front for Justice (HFJ), which sought exclusive rights for Hindus to conduct Saraswati Puja throughout the day on Basant Panchami on Friday, established specific arrangements to facilitate both communities in observing their respective religious practices. The Bench, which also included Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M. Pancholi, decreed that namaz may be offered between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in a specially designated area within the premises.
Regarding the controversy involving Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati concerning bathing in Prayagraj, Maulana Razvi suggested that the matter should be resolved.
"The conflict that emerged from this issue should be settled, and Shankaracharya ji should also move past his displeasure," he concluded.
