Bhopal, April 18 (NationPress) An eight-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted by a minor in the Ater Road police station (rural) area of Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh.
The incident occurred on Thursday in the basement of her residence, where the accused allegedly trespassed, assuming she was alone.
The 17-year-old suspect was known for performing domestic chores in the neighborhood and was frequently seen loitering nearby.
On Thursday, around 4 to 4.30 p.m., he reportedly entered the victim's home while her mother was busy with household activities. The victim’s father was away at work.
Taking advantage of the situation, he led the girl to the basement and allegedly committed the sexual assault,” stated Mukesh Shakya, the investigating officer.
According to the officer, the boy was a Class 10 student but regularly visited the area for domestic work.
When questioned about his age, the police officer confirmed that he was indeed a minor.
As he is a minor, he has not yet been presented before the juvenile court.
“We are currently awaiting medical examination results; following this, we will present him in juvenile court,” the officer added.
The girl’s cries attracted her mother and nearby residents, who hurried to her assistance and apprehended him. They contacted the police, and he was subsequently handed over to the authorities.
After a medical examination confirmed the sexual assault, a case was filed against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim is presently under medical care, and further investigations, including a medical examination of the accused, are ongoing.
The police are also collecting additional evidence as part of the inquiry. They are investigating whether the teenager has any prior incidents or involvement in other crimes.
