Patna, July 21 (NationPress) Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, arrived at the Bihar Assembly on Monday after the House sessions concluded. He expressed support for his mother, Rabri Devi, who called on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to transfer the Chief Minister’s position to his son, Nishant Kumar.

In a conversation with the media outside the Bihar Assembly, Tej Pratap remarked, “I have always maintained that the youth should be given an opportunity. My mother’s statements are made after careful thought.”

Regarding the law and order situation in Bihar, Tej Pratap asserted, “Crime is soaring, and the government is entirely inactive. No measures are being implemented.”

Earlier that day, Rabri Devi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, strongly condemned Nitish Kumar over the escalating crime rates in Bihar. She advised him to relinquish the Chief Minister’s role to his son, Nishant Kumar, if he cannot manage the situation.

In recent weeks, rising crime incidents in Patna and throughout Bihar have raised concerns about the government and police response, prompting increased criticism from the opposition against the Nitish-led NDA government regarding public safety.

When asked about his electoral ambitions, Tej Pratap stated, “There are many speculations. Some propose I will contest from Bakhtiyarpur, while others suggest Mahaddipur. I have accomplished significant work in Mahua and will run from wherever there is public demand.”

He further commented, “It will be interesting to see who establishes the next government.”

Recently, Tej Pratap Yadav publicized his 12-year relationship with Anushka Yadav on social media, which led to his father, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, expelling him from the party for six years and disowning him from the family.

Tej Pratap’s presence at the Assembly during the ongoing monsoon session and his remarks contribute to the unfolding political narrative in Bihar, as discussions around leadership and youth representation gain momentum ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Point of View

The evolving political landscape in Bihar underscores the urgent need for effective governance and accountability. The public's outcry over rising crime rates reflects a deeper concern about leadership and representation, particularly the role of youth in shaping the future. It’s essential that the voices of the people are recognized and addressed in the forthcoming elections.
