Patna, March 21 (NationPress) In light of the growing controversy regarding Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's purported disrespect toward the national anthem, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday expressed his dismay over the lack of response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state's deputy chief ministers.
Tejashwi questioned, "Where are Bihar's two Deputy Chief Ministers? Why are they silent? Why hasn't PM Modi, who regards Nitish Kumar as his 'Ladla CM', denounced this act? If BJP officials support this behavior, they should face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which imposes a three-year prison term for disrespecting the national anthem."
He further stated, "The BJP leaders' failure to condemn Nitish Kumar's actions reveals their false nationalism. Nitish Kumar has disrespected 140 crore Indians and must issue an apology in the Assembly. As a proud Bihari, I feel ashamed by this disgraceful incident."
The RJD and several opposition parties have organized statewide protests against CM Nitish Kumar.
They are demanding a public apology from the CM within the state Assembly.
If he does not comply, opposition leaders plan to march towards Raj Bhawan on Sunday.
Despite increasing pressure, BJP officials and Bihar's two Deputy Chief Ministers have remained silent on this issue.
Meanwhile, Bihar Rural Work Department Minister Ashok Choudhary defended Nitish Kumar, labeling the controversy a political maneuver.
The minister dismissed the national anthem issue, asserting: "Some incidents occur unintentionally. The opposition is intentionally distorting this to mislead the populace."
Choudhary also criticized Tejashwi and the RJD, commenting: "Those whose entire family is implicated in corruption are now questioning Nitish Kumar's integrity. This is merely a scheme to undermine Nitish Kumar without any legitimate issue."
CM Nitish, during the launch of the Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 in Patna on Thursday evening, was observed conversing, laughing, and folding his hands during the national anthem.
