Patna, Sep 2 (NationPress) Following the conclusion of the Voter Rights Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi in Patna, RJD leader and Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, launched a fierce critique against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his administration on Tuesday.
In a series of social media posts, Tejashwi Yadav alleged widespread corruption within state government departments, claiming that senior engineers have accumulated hundreds of crores through unlawful practices.
He highlighted institutional corruption prevalent in the NDA government, stating, “EOU allegedly discovered Rs 13 crore in cash at the residence of one engineer, despite family members trying to burn nearly Rs 10 crore in notes during the raid.”
He asserted that the engineer's total assets amounted to Rs 500 crore.
Another engineer reportedly held property valued at Rs 100 crore, while a third engineer claimed assets worth Rs 300 crore.
“These are merely three small instances of the institutional corruption nurtured by the Nitish Kumar regime,” Tejashwi remarked.
Additionally, he accused ministers within Nitish’s cabinet of profiting from tenders and frequently associating with known corrupt officials and notorious criminals.
The RJD leader charged the Chief Minister with protecting corrupt officers, questioning: “Does the CM visit the home of a minister who amassed wealth through global tendering every morning and evening to settle accounts?”
Tejashwi further alleged that the 14 crore residents of Bihar are witnesses to the rampant bribery and corruption prevalent in police stations and block offices.
Just a day earlier, he referred to Nitish Kumar as the 'Bhishma Pitamah' of moral corruption, asserting that the seizures of Rs 100 crore from engineers' residences were merely the beginning of a much larger issue.
He also mocked the JD(U)-BJP government as a “copycat government,” accusing it of replicating RJD’s promises.
“When we proposed increasing pensions, the government followed suit. When we suggested providing free electricity, they imitated it. This government can emulate us, but it cannot bring vision,” Yadav stated.
The recent allegations emerge just 24 hours after a significant opposition rally in Patna, where Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Sanjay Raut, NCP-Pawar's Supriya Sule, and other leaders from the INDIA bloc collectively criticized the NDA government for undermining democracy.
As the election season approaches, corruption has resurfaced as a pivotal theme in Bihar’s political narrative, with both parties intensifying their attacks.
