Telangana CM Envisions Future City to Rival Global Metropolises

Hyderabad, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, stated on Friday that the envisioned Future City, intended for development near Hyderabad, will be in competition with global cities such as New York, London, Seoul, Tokyo, and Dubai. Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Council meeting, he highlighted that the government has embarked on constructing a fourth city, known as Future City, in Hyderabad. "Our ambition is to create the finest city in India. It will be a pollution-free and Net zero city, focusing on the services sector," he remarked.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that with Telangana completing a decade, the government has set its sights on a more significant vision for the state’s development, termed as Telangana Rising.
The Chief Minister elaborated that Hyderabad is being enhanced to effectively manage natural disasters, stating that initiatives are underway to transform it into a pollution-free city. In line with this objective, measures to relocate polluting vehicles beyond the Outer Ring Road have been implemented.
Furthermore, Revanth Reddy mentioned that the government is prioritizing the growth of the automobile sector in Telangana. He noted that registration and road tax exemptions for electric vehicles have been put in place, with Telangana witnessing the fastest sales of electric vehicles in India. A fleet of 3,200 electric buses will be introduced to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation shortly.
He informed the CII members that the Musi Rejuvenation project aims to restore the water body, ensuring the flow of fresh water over a 55 km stretch in Hyderabad. The government has initiated plans to meet the city’s drinking water requirements until 2050.
The Chief Minister announced plans for a 360 km long Regional Ring Road (RRR). The state government is seeking approval from the Centre for a regional ring rail to encircle the RRR. Additionally, radial roads connecting the ORR and RRR are under development. The region between the ORR and RRR will be transformed into a manufacturing hub, housing sectors such as Pharma, Life Sciences, Aerospace, Defence, EVs, and solar industries.
As Telangana lacks a coastline, the government is planning to establish a Dry Port. A dedicated road and railway link to the Bandar port in Andhra Pradesh is also on the agenda. He expressed that the government’s vision is to fortify the state’s economy and invited investors to consider opportunities within the state.
He assured potential investors that the government is cultivating an ecosystem that offers the highest ease of doing business. The Chief Minister informed the industrialists about the establishment of a specialized skill university aimed at skill development, with Anand Mahindra appointed as its Chairman.
He urged the CII representatives to contribute to the Skill University corpus fund. "We are also in the process of setting up a Sports University and a Sports Hub," he concluded.
