Tragic Road Accidents Claim Lives of Two Tribal Youths in Madhya Pradesh
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Barwani, April 3 (NationPress) In two distressing road incidents, two tribal individuals tragically lost their lives, while two others suffered significant injuries when their vehicles plunged into steep ravines in the Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh.
The first incident took place late Friday near Biliya Pani Ghat, adjacent to Golagaon within the jurisdiction of Pati Police Station.
A vehicle carrying five tribal youths, heading back from Barwani to Semlet village, lost control on the narrow mountainous road and fell into a deep gorge.
Two individuals, identified as Sakaria, died instantly, while another, Ikram, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a local medical facility.
Pati Police Station In-charge Ramdas Yadav stated that the car may have lost control either due to the driver falling asleep or the poor condition of the ghat road at night.
“The car plunged approximately 50-60 feet. The rescue operations were complicated due to the challenging landscape and lack of visibility,” he remarked. The vehicle was en route to a nearby village.
A second incident occurred in a different area of the district the same day, where a motorcycle carrying two tribal youths skidded off the road and fell into a ravine, resulting in injuries for both riders.
An investigative officer from Pati Police Station noted that these accidents underscore the precarious nature of hilly and ghat roads in tribal-populated regions of Barwani.
“Many roads lack adequate guardrails, reflectors, and proper lighting. We urge the district administration to quickly identify hazardous areas and install safety barriers. Speeding and driver fatigue are prevalent issues in these remote regions. We call upon motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially during nighttime travel,” he emphasized.
Barwani, primarily a tribal district bordering Maharashtra, has seen multiple fatal accidents recently on its winding hilly roads.
Inadequate infrastructure, overloaded vehicles, and insufficient safety measures are frequently cited as significant contributors to these incidents.
The police have filed cases and initiated investigations into both occurrences. The injured youths are currently receiving medical care, with their conditions reported to be critical.
