Tragic Collapse of Transmission Tower Claims Lives of Three Workers in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Dec 26 (NationPress) In a devastating incident, three labourers lost their lives and six others sustained severe injuries when a 400 KV transmission line tower collapsed onto them in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district on Thursday.
The unfortunate event took place in Aamda village, located under the jurisdiction of Rampur Naikin police station, approximately 50 km from the district headquarters of Sidhi. A massive tower fell on the workers engaged in the project.
Local residents hurried to the scene and transported the injured labourers to the hospital. The local police were also notified of the situation.
While two individuals died instantly, another succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a government primary healthcare facility in Rampur Naikin.
The injured labourers have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital (SGMH) in Rewa. The number of fatalities may rise as the condition of three injured workers is reported to be critical, requiring ventilator support.
According to police reports, there were nine labourers on site when the tower came crashing down. They were in the process of replacing old transmission lines.
“A tower collapsed on a group of labourers, resulting in the death of two on the spot, while a third person succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital. Six individuals were injured and have been admitted in Rewa,” stated Sidhi Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma.
A 400 KV transmission line has been established between Satna district and the JP Nagar power plant in Sidhi.
As per Sudhanshu Tiwari, in-charge of Rampur Naikin Police Station, a private company based in West Bengal was responsible for the transmission tower work.
“The identification of the labourers, including the deceased, is underway. The contractor and other senior personnel of the firm have been summoned for questioning. An investigation will also determine whether the required safety standards were followed during the operation,” Tiwari added.
