Tragic Incident: Karnataka Tech Professional Takes His Life Amidst Alleged Spousal Harassment

Hassan (Karnataka), Jan 1 (NationPress) In the wake of the high-profile Atul Subhash suicide incident in Bengaluru on December 9, attributed to alleged harassment from his wife, and subsequent suicides of a policeman on December 13 and a cafe owner in New Delhi on December 31, a tragic case unfolded in Hassan district of Karnataka. A software engineer reportedly took his life due to alleged mistreatment by his wife.
Authorities have identified the victim as 35-year-old Pramod, who was employed with the Benz company in Bengaluru.
According to police reports, Pramod had departed from his residence in the Indiranagar area of Bengaluru on December 29, leaving his mobile phone behind, and had not returned since.
His concerned family, after searching extensively and consulting friends, ultimately filed a missing person report with the K.R. Puram police station in Bengaluru.
During this time, locals discovered a deserted vehicle near the Hemavathi River in Hassan district.
Using contact information found in the vehicle’s bank documents, they alerted Pramod’s family.
The local law enforcement quickly initiated a search operation, involving the fire department and emergency services, around the Hemavathi River.
Sadly, Pramod’s body was recovered on Wednesday morning.
Reports indicate that he had jumped into the Hemavathi River near Gorurushettihalli, located within the jurisdiction of the Aluru police.
Sources revealed that Pramod’s wife, accompanied by their infant and her family, came to identify his body.
Pramod’s family vehemently opposed the presence of his wife and her relatives, leading to a confrontation that resulted in police intervention for the safety of all involved.
The police have since commenced an investigation, gathering testimonies from both families. An official statement from the police is awaited, with further details to be disclosed.
Previously, the case involving Atul Subhash—a professional employed in the automotive sector—came to light when he allegedly took his life after being pressured for a divorce settlement of ₹3 crore. He left behind a 90-minute video and a 40-page note detailing the harassment he faced from his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her relatives.
In the wake of this, three individuals linked to Subhash's case—his wife, her mother, and brother—were apprehended by Bengaluru police and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
On December 13, another tragic case emerged when H.C. Thippanna, a 34-year-old Head Constable from the Hulimavu Traffic Police Station in Bengaluru, also died by suicide, citing mistreatment from his wife and in-laws in his suicide note.
These distressing incidents have ignited a national discourse on the issue of spousal harassment towards husbands.
