The driver and two helpers of the overturned lorry lost their lives instantly. They were identified as Ramanaiah, 60, Nagendra, 25, and Babu, 45, all hailing from Gudipallipadu in Nellore district.
The egg-laden vehicle was en route to Nellore from Bhuvanagiri in the neighboring Telangana state.
Shortly after, another truck collided with the overturned lorry, causing injuries to four individuals in the truck. They were promptly transported to the Government General Hospital in Ongole. The accidents caused significant traffic disruptions on the national highway.
A car that had halted due to the traffic congestion was subsequently struck from behind by a truck. As a result of this collision, the car was pushed into a stationary truck ahead of it.
According to authorities, the car was crushed between the two trucks, leading to serious injuries for five passengers. Tragically, two of them passed away while being rushed to the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Pavani, 25, and Kaushik, 14, from Guntur district. They were traveling to Tirumala from Guntur.
The car was severely damaged in the collision, which occurred half a kilometer from the location of the initial accident.
In a separate incident, a truck collided with a tractor making a U-turn due to the ongoing traffic jam, although this mishap resulted in no injuries.
Authorities utilized cranes to clear the vehicles involved in the accidents and restore normal traffic flow.
Investigations have been initiated, and cases registered. Prakasam's Superintendent of Police, A.R. Damodar, visited the scene to oversee the relief efforts.
