Trinamool Congress Accuses Humayun Kabir of Rs 1,000 Crore BJP Deal Amidst Election Tensions

Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 9 (NationPress) - The Trinamool Congress has made serious allegations against its former member, Humayun Kabir, and his newly established Aam Aadmi Unnayan Party (AAUP). They claim that Kabir has engaged in a Rs 1,000 crore agreement with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aimed at splitting minority votes in West Bengal Assembly constituencies where his candidates are running in the upcoming elections, allied with Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM. Kabir has denied these accusations, leading to a sharp retort from him.
During a joint press meeting, ministers Firhad Hakim, Aroop Biswas, and Kunal Ghosh, the state General Secretary of Trinamool, presented an audio recording in which Kabir allegedly discussed these matters with an undisclosed individual.
However, IANS has been unable to verify the authenticity of this audio clip.
The ministers chose to reveal this audio during the press conference while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conducting a significant campaign rally in Haldia, located in the East Midnapore district, marking the first of his three rallies scheduled in the state for that day.
In the audio, Kabir purportedly assures the unidentified person that if the BJP can secure the majority of Hindu votes this time, he would play a crucial role in the division of Muslim votes, with the intent to oust the Trinamool from power in the state.
He further pledged that he and his party would offer complete support to the new BJP Chief Minister if they succeed in the upcoming elections in West Bengal.
Kabir also mentioned being in frequent contact with Suvendu Adhikari, the Opposition Leader in the Assembly, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
Addressing the press, Hakim stated that Kabir should not underestimate the intelligence of minority voters. "He might sell his ethics to the BJP for money, but the ordinary minority voters will never do that," he remarked.
Kabir dismissed the claims, demanding evidence to support them. "Rs 1,000 crore is a massive amount. I do not have any deal worth even Rs 1 crore with the BJP. They can say whatever they like, but they must first prove that I met any BJP representative or that any BJP leader contacted me," Kabir told IANS.
He asserted that the audio clip shared by Trinamool was fabricated. "The Trinamool Congress has failed to counter my political stance, and thus they have resorted to such underhanded tactics," Kabir stated.
Additionally, he expressed his readiness to be a martyr in the endeavor to reconstruct the Babri Mosque at Beldanga in Murshidabad district, mirroring the original structure that was demolished in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.
"I am prepared to sacrifice myself for this cause, but I assure you that the construction of the mosque is progressing rapidly and will be completed within two years," Kabir concluded.
