Amit Shah Dismisses Trinamool's Claims on Humayun Kabir
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 10 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, vehemently dismissed the accusations made by the Trinamool Congress on Thursday. They claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party was involved in a secret agreement with former Trinamool legislator Humayun Kabir to manipulate minority voter demographics in West Bengal.
On Thursday, the Trinamool Congress aired a video and audio clip where Kabir allegedly made controversial remarks in conversation with an unidentified individual, suggesting schemes to fragment minority votes in the state, thereby aiding the BJP. They also alleged a Rs 1,000 crore arrangement with the saffron party for this purpose.
Despite these claims, Kabir denounced the clip as fabricated and attributed it to Artificial Intelligence. His former political ally, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, publicly announced its withdrawal from the alliance it had previously formed with Kabir.
During his visit to Kolkata to unveil the BJP's election manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections, Shah rejected the Trinamool's allegations. He asserted that the BJP would rather remain in the opposition for 20 years than collaborate with someone like Kabir, whose sole agenda, he claimed, is to construct a Babri Mosque in West Bengal.
“You underestimate Mamata Banerjee’s capabilities. She can fabricate a thousand such clips. However, Humayun Kabir and the BJP represent ideologies that are as different as the North and South Poles,” Shah stated.
“There is no possibility for an alliance between us. We would prefer to sit in the opposition benches for two decades rather than join forces with a person whose goal is to erect a Babri Mosque in West Bengal,” the Union Home Minister told reporters.
In a counter to the allegations, Kabir announced that if the ruling Trinamool Congress fails to prove the authenticity of the video clip, he would pursue a Rs 2,000 crore defamation lawsuit against the ruling party. He further clarified that while Rs 1,000 crore is indeed a significant sum, he does not possess any deal with the BJP amounting to even Rs 1 crore.
