Kolkata, April 11 (NationPress) Following the release of a 19-minute contentious video, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party, AIMIM, has severed its alliance with Humayun Kabir’s Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP).

In light of the controversy, AJUP’s chairman, Humayun Kabir, leveled accusations against the Trinamool Congress, asserting they orchestrated a “deal” against them. He claimed that Trinamool collaborated with AIMIM to disseminate a “fabricated video” aimed at undermining AJUP ahead of the Assembly elections and indicated his intention to pursue legal action.

During a press conference held in Beldanga, Murshidabad district, on Saturday afternoon, Humayun targeted the ruling party and certain AIMIM leaders. He alleged that Trinamool had engaged in significant financial dealings with some AIMIM officials. The outgoing MLA from Bharatpur contended that the video, stirring turmoil in state politics, was not authentic.

Humayun attributed the collapse of the alliance to AIMIM West Bengal President Imran Solanki and Murshidabad District President Asadul Sheikh, stating, “Trinamool MP Khalilur Rahman from Jangipur and a representative from Trinamool struck a ‘deal’ of Rs 20 crore with two AIMIM leaders, having already disbursed an ‘advance’ of Rs 2 crore.”

He further claimed, “Without corroborating the validity of my video, those AIMIM officials accepted money from Trinamool leaders and relayed it to Asaduddin Owaisi, leading to the dissolution of this alliance.”

AIMIM’s Murshidabad District President Asadul has denied Humayun’s assertions, mocking his former ally by stating, “Humayun Kabir’s reasoning is flawed. Until he substantiates that the video is ‘fake’, AIMIM cannot support him. Following the video’s release, we reported to Asaduddin Sahib, and based on that, our party opted to terminate the alliance.”

Asadul added, “We refuse to concede any ground to the Trinamool Congress in the upcoming elections. On April 13, 14, and 15, Asaduddin Sahib will campaign for our party candidate, Imran Solanki, in the Raghunathganj Assembly constituency. We are poised to secure multiple seats in the state.”

In a video released on Thursday, Trinamool Congress accused the BJP of a “secret collusion” with Humayun Kabir. The footage purportedly captures the Aam Janata Unnayan Party chairman soliciting Rs 1,000 crore from the BJP, claiming he would immediately provide Rs 200 crore. Humayun has consistently threatened to file a case in the Calcutta High Court, asserting that the video was fabricated using AI technology.

Meanwhile, three police complaints against Humayun have emerged, with FIRs filed at the Maidan police station in Kolkata, Rejinagar police station in Murshidabad, and Suri police station in Birbhum. He is allegedly inciting communal hatred to polarize the elections.

Additionally, several leaders from the Aam Janata Unnayan Party have departed amid the video controversy.
