Trio of Drug Traffickers Apprehended with 5 Kg of Heroin in Punjab

Chandigarh, Dec 5 (NationPress) Three individuals involved in drug trafficking have been apprehended with 5 kg of heroin in Punjab, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, who made the announcement on Thursday.
The individuals arrested include Husanpreet Singh from Amritsar, along with Karandeep Singh, also known as Manna, and Maninder Singh, both from Attari Mandi in Amritsar.
In addition to the heroin, police have confiscated drug money and seized the two-wheelers that the suspects were operating.
DGP Yadav indicated that the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit from Punjab Police in Amritsar had received a crucial tip-off regarding the involvement of Karandeep Singh and Maninder Singh in the heroin smuggling operation. It was revealed that they had recently acquired a substantial quantity of heroin from smugglers in Pakistan, intended for distribution to Husanpreet Singh.
The intelligence report also suggested that both Karandeep Singh and Maninder Singh were traveling to the Amritsar-Attari Road near Punjabi Bagh Palace on a white Honda Activa to deliver the heroin consignment to Husanpreet Singh, who was en route on his black Hero Deluxe HF motorcycle.
In response to this information, CI Amritsar swiftly set up a special checkpoint near Punjabi Bagh Resort on Attari Road, leading to the arrest of all suspects along with the recovery of the heroin and the drug money.
Ongoing investigations aim to uncover further connections in this case and to identify drug traffickers based in Pakistan, he noted.
A case has been filed on December 4 under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Police Station State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar.
Due to the recovery of drug money from the suspects, the seriousness of the charges has been escalated by including Section 27-A of the NDPS Act.
