Agartala, Aug 2 (NationPress) More than 2.84 lakh farmers in Tripura have received a total of Rs 45.43 crore as part of the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, as announced by Chief Minister Manik Saha during a virtual event.

The formal launch of this 20th instalment was conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Following the event, Chief Minister Saha shared on X: “Under the visionary guidance of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, various initiatives have been implemented to empower our farmers. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi stands as a pivotal step in this journey.”

“Today, the 20th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme - a total of Rs 20,500 crore disbursed virtually by the Hon'ble PM to honor farmers nationwide, including those in Tripura. A total of 2.84 lakh farmers from Tripura received Rs 45,43,74,000. I attended a programme at the State Agricultural Research Center in A.D. Nagar to encourage our farmers,” said CM Saha.

In a separate event titled “Sampoornata Abhiyan Samman Samaroh,” the Chief Minister emphasized the BJP government's commitment to providing adequate facilities to all citizens and working towards the socio-economic upliftment of those in the state's backward areas.

He stated that the state government is also making strides to honor the Samajpatis of the Janajati (tribal) communities.

Highlighting the initiative, the Chief Minister said: “The goal is to ensure that there is no incompleteness anywhere. PM Narendra Modi always emphasizes achieving 100 percent saturation. The state government is diligently working towards this goal, focusing on the complete implementation of various projects.”

Additionally, the Chief Minister launched the ‘Navdisha Abhiyan’ with a funding of Rs 50 crore to enhance the socio-economic conditions of 10,000 families across 16 blocks that are not yet part of the Self-help Groups (SHGs).

“The Prime Minister’s dedicated initiatives have led to the establishment of the Jan Dhan Yojana with zero balance accounts. Currently, approximately 55 crore accounts have been opened under this scheme nationwide,” he noted.

Moreover, Rs 32 crore has been allocated for 80 Integrated Farming Clusters (IFCs) to support agriculture and allied activities through SHG’s women members. Currently, Tripura has 53,951 SHGs with a total of 4.84 lakh women members under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission.

“One of the government's goals is to enhance the lives of underprivileged and marginalized families. A campaign has been initiated to improve the socio-economic conditions and livelihoods of those unable to join self-help groups for various reasons,” the Chief Minister stated.

Additionally, he announced a project named TRIPTI (Targeted Rural Initiatives for Poverty Termination and Infrastructure) aimed at uplifting approximately 4,000 poor families in the Ganganagar block of Dhalai district and the Dasda block of North Tripura district.

Under the Prime Minister's leadership, a total of 112 aspirational districts and 500 aspirational blocks across the country have been identified for special development initiatives.

He reiterated the state government's commitment to enhancing the socio-economic conditions, quality of life, and opportunities for citizens in the backward areas. Effective monitoring, he stressed, is vital for achieving these objectives.

“In each block, we are prioritizing health, nutrition, education, agriculture, and social development. The monthly allowance for tribal leaders has recently been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000. This government values the integration of various castes and tribes,” he concluded.
