Two Arrested, Over 5 Kg of Narcotics Confiscated in Purnea, Bihar

Patna, Dec 13 (NationPress) Two suspects were taken into custody and a large quantity of smack was confiscated during a vehicle inspection operation carried out by the Mufassil police on Thursday morning.
The event transpired around 2:15 a.m. on the NH-31 flyover at Balouri village when a grey Swift car approaching from the Maranga side slowed down upon spotting the police and attempted to escape.
One of the passengers exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot but was captured with the help of the police team.
Upon interrogation, the individuals revealed their identities as Raunak Kumar from the Khushki Bagh police station area in Sadar, Purnea, and Ricky Singh from the Neva Lal Chowk police station area in Maranga, Purnea.
A detailed search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 5.19 kg of smack worth approximately Rs 5 crore in the international market.
The drugs were found packed in 50 plastic bags within a specially designed box inside the car.
The narcotics were confiscated, and both suspects were taken into custody.
This operation, executed by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mufassil police station along with his team, has been commended for its effectiveness.
"We have filed an FIR under the NDPS Act at Mufassil police station, and the investigation is ongoing. We are striving to uncover details about their handlers," stated Brajesh Kumar, SHO of Mufassil police station.
Earlier, in a notable operation conducted collaboratively by the East Champaran Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), five individuals were arrested on Thursday for possessing highly refined heroin and a chemical in Bihar's East Champaran district.
The raid occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of Chhatauni police station, where two kg of contraband and a chemical used in the production of brown sugar were seized.
The estimated international market value of the confiscated items is around Rs 7 crore.
Swarn Prabhat, the Superintendent of Police for East Champaran, confirmed the arrests and the seizure.
"This operation was conducted in collaboration with the NCB. Five individuals have been arrested, and the contraband along with a chemical was recovered. The arrested suspects are now in judicial custody," he reported.
