Lucknow, April 20 (NationPress) The government of Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, has announced a bold initiative to install 800,000 solar rooftop plants throughout the state by March 2027, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana.
The target for the ongoing financial year is set at 265,000 units, with a monthly goal of 22,000 installations, averaging approximately 300 installations per district.
Currently, over 100,000 rooftop solar systems have been successfully installed in the state.
At present, nearly 11,000 units are being installed each month, resulting in a daily average exceeding 500.
The progress of the scheme is being closely tracked through the Chief Minister's dashboard, allowing for real-time updates, as noted by a government representative.
The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) is leading the initiative, aiming to provide solar energy to every household.
For effective execution, specific targets have been established at the district, DISCOM, municipal corporation, and municipality levels.
As of March 2025, there have been 1,073,000 applications submitted through the portal, with vendor listings currently in progress and installation moving ahead swiftly.
