New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) Robert Vadra, spouse of Wayanad Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi and son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi, on Thursday urged for solutions to pressing issues like joblessness, inflation, and women's safety, criticizing the BJP's alleged attempts to distract the public with divisive topics such as the renaming of roads and the removal of the grave of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

In an interview with IANS regarding the grave controversy, he stated: "This is completely irrelevant. What truly matters is inflation, and our focus must be on that. Unity is paramount. The genuine concerns, such as those of protesting farmers, should be prioritized and heard."

He characterized the discussions surrounding Mughal emperors Babar and Aurangzeb as "sensitive" matters for minorities, asserting, "These topics pose a threat to the nation's unity and can be divisive. This is the last thing that Congress, Rahul Gandhi, or Priyanka Gandhi desire."

Vadra's comments arise in the context of the rising calls for the removal of Aurangzeb's grave in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which recently led to violence in Nagpur on March 17 over the matter.

He also criticized the alterations of road names and mosque surveys, asserting that the youth are aware of these distractions.

"Road names like Aurangzeb Road are being changed, mosque surveys are underway, and names of airports and railway stations are being modified, yet this will not result in any real change. I am convinced that the younger generation disagrees with this. Why doesn’t the government address real issues...?"

On one hand, such divisive actions and rhetoric are aimed at minorities, while on the other, Iftar gatherings are organized, and 32 lakh Iftar and Eid kits are distributed on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“There is a contradiction. None of this will benefit anyone and will create obstacles to progress,” Vadra concluded.
