Key Takeaways
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 27 (NationPress) The Kerala Health Minister, Veena George, has become the target of public mockery, as stated by the Leader of Opposition, V.D. Satheesan, on Friday. “Her name elicits laughter among the populace,” Satheesan remarked during a press briefing in Adoor.
He accused the CPI-M of instigating violence throughout Kerala by propagating what he described as a blatant falsehood regarding an alleged injury sustained by Minister George during a KSU protest in Kannur on Wednesday.
“A bomb was thrown at the residence of a KSU leader involved in the protest, and false charges have been fabricated to imprison KSU activists on accusations of attempted murder,” Satheesan asserted.
Currently, five KSU members are incarcerated after being detained for protesting and displaying black flags at Veena George's arrival at the railway station in Kannur.
According to Satheesan, the people of Kerala have recognized that the statements made by the Minister, Speaker A.N. Shamseer, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and CPI-M state secretary M.V. Govindan regarding the incident at the Kannur railway station were false.
He accused CPI-M leaders of inciting statewide unrest under the guise of a supposed attack that he insists did not occur.
Additionally, he reported that promotional materials related to his yatra were destroyed in Pathanamthitta, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram, resulting in injuries and attacks on homes using crude bombs.
Satheesan labeled the claims by CPI-M state secretary M.V. Govindan regarding KSU activists grabbing the Minister's shawl and hand as baseless and aimed at inciting violence.
He argued that the attack narrative was a conspiracy designed to divert attention from critical issues in the health sector and has now unraveled.
“The medical report does not indicate any injuries from an attack. The media, the Railways, and the public know it was merely an incident,” he explained, emphasizing that hospitalization was unnecessary despite rumors of impending surgery.
He demanded the dismissal of attempted murder charges against KSU members and called for a case against Govindan for alleged incitement to violence.
Satheesan asserted that the Opposition would pursue the matter both politically and legally and insisted that CPI-M must cease the violence immediately.
