The BJP has claimed that this violent outburst was carried out with the implicit approval of local authorities and police.
In response to the incident, Shubhendra Kumar, the Superintendent of Police for the Baruipur Police District, confirmed that multiple officers were injured and eight arrests were made related to the altercation.
However, he noted that the BJP candidate was not present during the incident. An investigation has been initiated by the police.
Upon learning that his supporters had been attacked, the BJP candidate hurried to the scene.
He later had a heated confrontation with the police, accusing the Trinamool of resorting to violence and intimidation due to fear of losing, while the police remained passive witnesses.
As of the latest reports, the Trinamool Congress has not provided any official comment regarding the occurrence.
In an effort to uphold law and order, police forces have been deployed in the area, and central forces are conducting route marches to prevent any further escalation of tensions.
