Jaipur, Oct 31 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma emphasized that the 'Iron Man of India', Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was instrumental in forging a robust and unified nation by integrating princely states post-Independence.
He remarked, "Sardar Patel infused the ethos of 'One India – Best India' into the hearts of our citizens. His enduring vision of unity in diversity continues to motivate the nation today," he stated.
The Chief Minister called upon the youth to consistently prioritize national interest and unity, contributing to the formation of a resilient and self-sufficient India.
Sharma was speaking during the Unity March organized under the theme of 'Sardar 150' to honor the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
He recalled that following Independence, India had over 560 princely states, some of which desired to remain sovereign. Sardar Patel persuaded the rulers that their people's future was best secured within a united India. While some states merged willingly, others needed political negotiation.
Thanks to Sardar Patel’s visionary leadership, states like Junagadh and Hyderabad became integral to India. His determination and leadership made the dream of a modern, unified India a reality.
During the Unity March, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma proudly carried the national flag, walking three kilometers from Gandhi Circle to Amar Jawan Jyoti—a journey lasting about 40 minutes—alongside public representatives and citizens. A significant number of participants joined the march with enthusiasm, with patriotic chants resonating along the route.
Citizens showered flowers and welcomed the Chief Minister at JDA and Rambagh Circles.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, various public representatives, athletes, and students from universities and colleges also participated in the march.
At Amar Jawan Jyoti, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and laid a wreath in honor of the martyrs. He remarked that Sardar Patel’s vision faced challenges in Kashmir due to the imposition of Article 370.
However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that long-desired vision has been realized. By revoking Article 370, the Prime Minister has fostered peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir, making it an integral part of India—a true homage to Sardar Patel.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to empowering youth. In the last two years, over 91,000 government jobs have been created, with recruitment for an additional 150,000 positions currently in progress.
Loans amounting to ₹140 crore have been approved for young entrepreneurs. Sharma assured the youth that under his administration, no examination has been compromised, guaranteeing that their hard work will yield results.
“Prepare with diligence; the government stands by you,” he stated. Sharma noted that the Unity March, part of the National Unity Fortnight, symbolizes a collective commitment to realizing the vision of a 'Developed Rajasthan – Developed India.'
“By participating in this march, we have revitalized Sardar Patel's ideals. Just as he unified 560 princely states, we too must reinforce unity in diversity,” he urged. Highlighting that the youth are India's greatest asset, the Chief Minister called on them to actively contribute to achieving Sardar Patel’s dream of a united, strong, and self-sufficient India.
During the event, the Chief Minister led a pledge for a self-reliant India to the public. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to the statues of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Circle.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, and other public representatives were present at the event, along with a large gathering of citizens.
