YSR Congress Party Calls for Dismissal of TDP MP Over Drug Allegations
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Amaravati, March 15 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party has called for the dismissal of Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Yadav from the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh due to allegations of drug use at a rave party.
Former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu stated during a press conference on Sunday that Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu should take decisive action following reports that the MP tested positive for drug usage during a party in Hyderabad.
Labeling the TDP as the ‘Telugu Drugs Party’, he claimed that both liquor and drugs are readily accessible in the state, highlighting the MP's apparent lack of integrity.
Sudhakar Babu emphasized that it is up to Chandrababu to respond; otherwise, it may be evident whether he utilizes his connections to shield the MP from accountability.
He further alleged that despite being in a coalition with the Jana Sena and BJP, Naidu maintains an active communication line with Congress leaders, which he previously used to hinder the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation project. The outcomes regarding the MP's situation will be closely monitored.
Notably, the MP is the son of a former TTD Chairman, and his involvement in drug activities and proximity to a shooting incident raises serious concerns regarding his character, according to the YSRCP leader.
YSRCP spokesperson Konda Rajeev Gandhi expressed outrage over reports that TDP MP Mahesh Yadav was implicated in a drug-related incident during a police raid at a farmhouse in Moinabad.
He remarked that this situation unveils the duplicity of both Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh, who campaign against drug use while claiming to have the situation under control. Gandhi pointed out that the MP has familial ties to Chandrababu Naidu, being the son of the current Mydukur MLA and former TTD Chairman, and is closely associated with Nara Lokesh.
He concluded by noting that the coalition's legacy is marred by various scandals, including harassment claims against a Jana Sena MLA, and now, drug-related issues are part of their narrative.
